Alida A. de Jong, MSN, RN, FNP-BC is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in primary care and preventive medicine. At IM of CNY, she works closely with Dr. Puc in providing comprehensive care to individuals seeking integrative wellness evaluation for their general medical concerns, as well as to those desiring an integrative perspective in managing chronic conditions, including but not limited to Lyme disease, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.
Alida is committed to empowering individuals to optimize their current state of well-being while balancing the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health with the challenges of living with disease. Drawing on her extensive background in nutrition and behavioral health, she encourages patients to build a virtual “toolbox” of resources to access when addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, confusion, fear, fatigue, sleep irregularities, and pain. Food is approached as medicine, and is evaluated as a vital component of the healing process. With the goal of optimizing metabolic health and function, the uniqueness of each individual is carefully considered when assessing dietary intake and prescribing any treatments, medications, nutraceuticals, or herbal supports.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Alida is board certified through the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center). She is a member of the AANP (American Association of Nurse Practitioners) and the NPA (Nurse Practitioner Association of NY State), where she served as past co-president of the Syracuse chapter.
Alida completed her initial nursing (BSN, RN) and Adult Nurse Practitioner (MSN, ANP) training through Syracuse University’s College of Nursing. There she received a research assistantship (Depression in College Aged Women), a teaching assistant fellowship (Anatomy and Physiology), a Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society Research grant (Assessing Diabetic Foot Care in the Community), and the graduate faculty Nursing Scholarship Award. She acquired her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post Master’s Certificate through the University of Rochester, accepting the LEAH Fellowship Grant (Interdisciplinary Leadership Training in Adolescent Health) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. Prior to nursing, while living in California, she practiced as a certified Metabolic Nutritionist. Earlier in her career, she received an MA in Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle where she studied psychotherapy and developed a special interest in the use of transpersonal and holistic approaches in facilitating body-mind interconnection.
She holds certifications in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy, and
regression therapy (Ro-Hun Institute & Monroe Institute Training in Alternate Levels of
Consciousness) and is certified in Therapeutic Touch (Levels I-III) and Reiki (Levels I-II). Over the years, she has enjoyed studying with various leaders in the fields of medicine, psychology, nutrition, healing and meditation, and personally practices Transcendental Meditation.
Alida is enthusiastic about being a member of IM of CNY’s uniquely skilled team of practitioners and healers as an Integrative Nurse Practitioner offering personalized holistic care in a harmonious and peaceful environment.
